Our Deepest Fear

The following was a revelation to me many years ago when I first heard it spoken on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Although it was quoted by Nelson Mandela, it was originally written by Marianne Williamson.  It was the first time I also heard the words spoken by another empowered woman and totally changed the way I saw the world.  It's been repeated all over the world since then, but I'd like to share it here as it remains relevant and bears repeating today...

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
So that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us, it is in everyone.
we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
our presence automatically liberates others.
Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
And as we let our own light shine,
As we are liberated from our own fear,

- Marianne Williamson.
