Here's a page from Joan Borysenko's book, "A Pocketful of Miracles" which I found most amusing and instructive. Enjoy!
Seed Thought
I was cleaning the kitchen over the Christmas Holy Days one year while writing this book. Our son Justin, then in his mid-twenties, was visiting with me in the kitchen. I began to wax eloquent on the virtues of cooking food from scratch, since it was obviously the better - more nutritious, more delicious, lots cheaper. The corollary of virtuous cooking, I explained, was virtuous refrigerator husbandry. Leftovers, in particular, were a precious resource always to be used up, never thrown out. Perish the thought of wastefulness.
Justin's reply? "Have you applied for sainthood yet, Mom?"
A monk was once asked what they did up there in the monastery all the time. He replied, "We fall and get up again. Fall and get up again. Fall and get up again. It's good not to take yourself too seriously."
Prayer/Practice
If possible, go for a mindful walk outside today. In the words of Thich Nhat Hanh, do nothing, just practice "being peace". Do the same thing in your interactions with other people. If a sudden fit of "setting people straight" comes over you, withdraw your application for sainthood and refrain from the urge to lecture.
