from 'Zen for Cats', by Henry Beard
The zen kitty picks his spot and sets himself firmly in place. His hold on the sofa cushion is like that of an ancient cypress whose roots grow deep into rocky crags.
He focuses his immense powers of concentration on becoming totally immobile. His paws tap into the hidden energy flow that arises from the very center of the earth.
An attempt to dislodge him from his position would be sheer folly, for he has transformed himself from a small bundle of fur into a boulder weighing many tons.
If anyone else wishes to occupy a place on the sofa, it would certainly behoove them to select some other spot upon which to sit.
