GOD'S APRON

 

God dressed thoughtfully,

pinned up her hair tightly

and tied her apron on with care.

 

She reached out for her favorite mixing bowl,

then set it aside, and filling her pockets with secret ingredients,

she smiled to herself, stepped outside and looked around.

"Yes," she said, "Yes, it is time!"

 

She flung her arms open wide, laughing aloud as she began to dance.

"Be!" she sang out, tossing her head

sending hairpins flying out in all directions

as her hair swirled around her.

 

Singing!  Laughing!  Dancing!  God's dress and apron spun wide!

She kicked up her heels and laughed some more

as she sang out again and again "Be!  Be!"

 

Reaching into her pockets she flung out hands full of stars

and laughed again clapping her hands in delight, and

out sprang galaxies, exploding across the Void like fireworks freed!

 

As God shook out her apron again,

firefly comets and blazing suns darted out to find their places

and she sang out, "It is good!  It is good!"

 

She skipped merrily through piles of stars like leaves

and danced along the Milky Way,

feet setting a beat that filled all with sound and music!

 

"Be!" she sang out again as she scooped up a handful of star dust,

took a deep breath and exhaled ever so slowly into it, and

cocking her head, she smiled and said, "Yes, it IS good,"

and hugged it to her heart.
