Energy Share for Sunday
January 28, 2007

Living is a form of not being sure, not knowing what next or how. The moment you know how, you begin to die a little. The artist never entirely knows. We guess. We may be wrong, but we take leap after leap in the dark.

Agnes de Mille

Speaking of leaps in the dark... that reminds me of the hula students who come to class every Tuesday. They never know what challenge their teacher will lay out for them each day, and this week it was an announcement that we have 2 more performances in April. And learning 4 more dances with at least one in the traditional style of chanting and dancing, which the students had never seen before. Because of the nature of the program, students register every month and are not required to perform outside of class. And you never know whether those that come one month will show up again the next month. These students had never performed on stage, much less dancing hula, and can barely tell their right from their left.

One woman voiced her concern about her daughter's dancing saying, "She's having a hard time because she's a perfectionist and expects to excel at everything." But, she paused, and went on to say that even though her daughter saw that she didn't dance as well as the other students, she still wanted to perform.

"And that inspires me," the mother said. "If she can do it, I'm willing to do it with her."

A valuable experience for the mother and her daughter. Including the others who accepted the challenge and believed the opportunity to be a worthwhile risk.

Checkout the previous posts on perfectionism and risk taking, along with a little inspirational message sent by a friend of mine.

Drawing on the energies of this chilly, sunny day I send out a radiant boost of energy to you with LOTS of aloha, light, and hugs. Help yourself to the boost I send to you and enjoy it fully. With heartfelt gratitude, I thank you for being a part of this energy share. I joyfully acknowledge the boost of energy from you and welcome it with open arms.

Enjoy every moment and live the passionate life you intend it to be.

a hui hou (Until we meet again),
