Subject: Not all Reiki attunements are created equal


Hello,

One of the greatest surprises to me when I started researching Reiki in the early 1990's was that not all attunements are the same.

During that time frame, I worked with many clairvoyants. I would test the ones I ran across in classes and only use people who described the same thing energetically in a given scenario. That research taught me quite a bit, including the fact that attunements were often not independent of the master's energy. Many masters acted like filters, and their students only got part of the Reiki attunement. It took quite a bit of research to get attunement methods that negated this problem. There were also different forms of Reiki that produced clearly different energetic effects via their attunements. Sometimes the same Reiki lineage would have an attunement procedure slightly altered by someone (say by adding attunement of the feet) and this would produce a dramatically different pattern in people's Reiki energy field.


------------------ Reiki is Reiki ------------------

There is a myth that says, "Reiki is Reiki." On one level, this is true. You can self initiate into Reiki, for example. You can also get an attunement from a master. However every self initiation/attunement is different. Self initiations/Attunements are introductions to the energy, and some are much more thorough and comprehensive than others. Every self initiation/attunement has limitations, and it takes a lot of research, practice, and self work to deliver the most powerful attunements possible. Don't kid yourself about this. Very few masters do this these days, but they are out there.


--------------------- The Good News ---------------------

The good news is that regardless of your initial initiation, your Reiki will grow as you work with it. If you don't use it much, don't expect much in terms of this growth.

You'd be better off finding one of the handful of masters that really, really work and take pride in their ability to deliver solid introductions to the energy...and getting re-attuned.

These masters are typically full time teachers and healers. They work with the energy all the time and this allows them to maximize your introduction to it. You can do the same. The more you work with it, the more it will open up in you. Even if you self attune, doing a lot of work with it each day can get you to the point where your ability to tap into the energy will be as strong as if you were attuned by one of these masters.
