Today I decided to send you an energy boost with the inspirational words of Mike Dooley in this slideshow. May it help you to see things with a fresh perspective and find the silver lining in all the challenges we face now. Call on the boost whenever and for as much as you need.
This past week I called in the rains to put an end to the fires. And they came, relieving all the firefighters and support services that stepped forward. Now another group of brave souls must face the destruction of their homes and begin again. Every year Californians live with the cycles of destruction and creation to the mountains and hillsides and the firefighting services are quite capable of coping with them. There are new and more fire-retardant materials being used now for homeowners and people have become more savvy about protecting the lands surrounding their homes.
But the difficulty and pain has been felt even more deeply for those who have lost their homes and jobs at the same time. So where's the silver lining? Well, perhaps it's in situations like this where you see friends and family pulling together. Where the goodness in others becomes more apparent than ever. Where a complete stranger steps forward to lend a hand out of goodwill with no expectations of reward or applause. And also where folks act more responsibly in the surrounding parks and forests reminding us all to take care of our lands. "E ku lokahi kakou a o malama 'aina", meaning in Hawaiian, "Let us unite to care for the land".
