SAM-e May Support SRI Treatment of Mood Disorder
09/09/10
A new study by researchers from Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital have found that the supplement S-Adenosyl Methionine (SAM-e, pronounced "sammy") may be a useful adjunctive therapy in some instances of depression. The study, which was published in the August 2010 issue of American Journal of Psychiatry, found that SAM-e may help reduce the symptoms of major depression when used as an adjunct therapy with a serotonin re-uptake inhibitor (SRI) medication. To our knowledge, this is the first such finding of its kind and should be regarded accordingly.
