Hawaiian music and hula at its best.
Kumu hula, singer-songwriter Kealiʻi Reichel performs his mele "Maunaleo" at the Hawaiʻi Theatre in Honolulu as part of Kūkahi ʻ99. Written in honor of his mother, Kealiʻi compares her strength and lasting beauty to Maunaleo, a peak alongside Iao Valley on Maui.
This video is a Coco Palm Pictures production made in association with Punahele Productions and used by permission of the composer and performers. An excellent example of the poetry of the Hawaiian language.
