Cho Ku Rei: The Doorway of Light

Be receptive to the gifts you receive from Spirit/God. Stay in the light and notice the shadows dancing on your wall.

Cho Ku Rei is one of the four original symbols given to Dr. Usui during his mystical awakening. It is a bridging symbol, the symbol most used for healing in the physical realm, which would include the workplace, money, and safety needs as well as the physical body. In many spiritual traditions, the body is largely ignored; in the Archetypal Reiki system, we begin with the body symbol. Cho Ku Rei is the doorway to the spirit world, which begins with the physical body.

I suggest that you begin with a prayer or invocation that speaks to your body as the entryway of healing. One prayer form might be as follows: "As I begin this path of healing, I ask that the work begin with my body. A healing occurs at every level of my physical being. So be it. Thank You."

The polarities within this archetype are light and darkness. If we try to live "in the light" all the time, trying to be too perfect, too spiritual, we tend to ignore our physical life. We deny our human heritage. Our eyes burn out if we stare too long at the sun. Our skin burns up if we stay too long in the sun. Sleep is refreshing. In our sleep, it is dark.

Darkness exists as a shadow of light. If we did not have darkness, we would not know light. When we see the shadows on the wall, we see our human nature. We see our flaws. We see that we are material beings as well as spiritual ones. When we accept and love both our light and our darkness, we are in balance.

REFLECT on how you might improve the health and well-being of your physical body - or your job, your home, your physical life - so that it truly reflects your ongoing spiritual development.

WRITE down three goals that would improve your physical life and lead you onward spiritually.

AFFIRM with feeling, "Today I honor my physical body, my home, my work. As I care for my physical life, so do I care for my Soul."

Meditation

This is a manifestation meditation. Manifestation means to bring into the physical world that which begins in the spirit world, and it occurs through intention and desire. It creates a spiritual blueprint, which in turn creates a form in the physical world.

* Declare your wish.

* Visualize, feel, or know your wish with you in it. Visualize in color and action, with as much detail as you can.

* Place the earth behind it and you on the earth, also in color and detail.

* Position a golden diagonal or spiral grid over the picture running from sky to earth, like a rainbow arch.

* In your mind's eye, draw a doorway, representing Cho Ku Rei, over the whole picture.

* Hold the image for as long as you can.

* Let it go.

* Do not monitor the progress of this goal. Let go of the outcome and ....

* Surrender it to Spirit/God's care.

* Be careful what you ask for, you might get it!
